7th Grade Bands

The 7th grade band classes meet during periods 5A & 5B. Our main objective is to become great musicians and play our instruments at the highest level possible. Along the way we will deal with all kinds of other things like teamwork, motivation, what makes music sound good, developing a love for listening to and playing music, and more band-specific things like tone, balance, articulation, dynamics, and more. Students in band will also be given a large group sectional that will meet for a full period once every two weeks on a rotating schedule. The objective of this sectional time is to introduce to the students more material that private lesson students are already getting during their weekly private sessions. End of the quarter playing tests will be given during the sectional times. Missed sectionals should be made up as soon as possible. Students who are in private lessons will still play the quarter playing tests as part of their grade. The tests can be done before or after school or another time.
