The 8th grade only concert at North HS is on Nov 18 at 7:30 PM. The students need to arrive no later than 6:00 pm, come through door 11, and wear black on the bottom and white on top. The concert will feature Haines, Thompson, and the HS orchestras as well as a combined piece with everyone. The tickets to this event are free, but the directors would like you to print out tickets from this website.
Reminder that the orchestra concert is next Tuesday, Nov 4 at 8:00 pm at Haines in the gym. Please have students arrive at 7:30 and wear their Halloween costumes. If you do not have your child dress up for Halloween please have them pick whatever they would like out of their closet. The concert should not be more than 45 min in length. I look forward to seeing everyone there!
The Haines Fall Jazz Concert is this week on Thursday, October 30 at 7 pm in our cafeteria. Kids in the Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Lab should be here at Haines at 6:30 pm for warm ups dressed in their Jazz Shirt and Jeans or khaki pants. 6th graders are encouraged to attend but are not performing. 6th graders can get extra credit if they are able to come.
St. Charles North High School has two Jazz Concerts coming up next week. Monday night (October 20) has a number of Jazz Bands at 7:30 pm in the auditorium. Tuesday Night (October 21) has the Jazz Workshop and two Jazz Choirs, also at 7:30 pm in the auditorium. Admission is free. For more information click the SCN music website link in the sidebar.

First I want to congratulate the students who went to the IMEA auditions last Saturday. We had 13 students try out and 7 students were named to the Jazz and concert band groups from the 8th grade Band. WAY TO GO!!!! Keep up the great work!
The quarter test is coming due in two weeks. This would include Concert D,G,C,F,Bb,Eb,Ab,Db, and Gb major scales, chromatic scale and #3 in Book III.
This has been an outstanding start to the year with this 6th grade band. I wanted to point out that we have some important assignments coming due soon. The notespeller Lessons 1-6 are coming due on Friday, October 24. I am impressed with how many students have already turned them in. We are grading those and handing them back as soon as we can so that the kids can correct them, if needed.
Also, the Quarter Playing Test will be played at lesson times the week of October 20-24. It is worth 25% of their quarter grade so it is very important that the students are prepared. The test is the Bb major scale ( two octaves for flutes, clarinets, tenor sax and percussion), Bb chromatic scale, and #13 in the book.
Finally, I am impressed with how many students have been working the Advanced Playing Levels. We have a number of kids finished with level I and a couple done with Level II. WAY TO GO !!!!!!!!!!
